About:
Transport Department, Government of Assam is the gurdian of implementation of M.V.Act, 1988 as ammended and rules thereunder. Registration of vehicles and licencing of Drivers is the responsibility of the Department. The objective of the department is to regulate transport services and to maintain road safety measures also. This Department also contribute a handsome amount of revenue to the state exchequer which has been increasing every year. A number of schemes have been taken up in the interest of general public and also services are to be provided for rural connectivity.

Road Map For Achievement of Revenue Target Rs. 17.86 Corers for the Financial Year 2022-23:
Vigorous Enforcement drive will be performed throughout the Karimganj District to realize the Arrear Tax, Road Tax as well as C.F.
Wide Publicity by the Social Media, Electronic Media & Print Media to aware the General Public to deposit their Road Tax in due time and validate all vehicle documents before expiry.
Enforcement Team will visit the Remote Area of Karimganj District to identify and seize the Tax defaulter vehicles to realize Arrear Tax as well as other dues.
Wide publicity OTS scheme throughout the District to update Vehicle Fitness Certificate as well as to realize Fitness Certificate C.F.
It may be mentioned that as per new revised Revenue Target Rs. 17.86 Corers for the financial year 2022-23 and up to 25th August 2022 the total Revenue Collected Rs. 5,51,14,666/- and the percentage of the collection is 30.85%. The balance amount is Rs. 12, 34, 85,334/- and accordingly per month expected Revenue Target is Rs. 1,76,40,762/- for the current financial year.
The issue of demand notice has already been started as well as door to door visit for realization of revenue.
The rest amount of Revenue Target Rs. 12,34,85,334/- is very tough subject.
I will review the monthly collection every 01st week of the next month and vigorous Enforcement Drive already started to achieve the target.
The special Enforcement drive will be conducted to realize Arrear Tax as well as to take serious initiative to dispose the pending Offense Cases C.F.
The Revenue collection sources are Normal Tax, Arrear Tax, C.F. APGT, Foreign Vehicle Tax, Fitness Certificate C.F. and so on. The Enforcement wing will be already engaged in all sources to achieve the Revenue Target for the current financial year 2022-23. I shall take serious initiative to monitor the Enforcement activities closely because the Enforcement activities are the vital source to achieve Revenue Target.
All Dealer’s Trade License & Trade Certificate will be verified and realized the prescribed fees in due time.
We have been working very sincerely with a team work in a planned manner (Month wise target) to achieve the new target in due time though it is very tough subject.

Enforcement Drive:
A Special Awareness Campaign on Road Safety organized at “Nilambazar College” along with Students, Teachers, General Public, Drivers , Conductors as well as various NGO’s.
Awareness Campaign on Road Safety organized at “N.C. College, Badarpur” along with Students, Teachers, General Public organized by Police Department in participation of District Transport Office, Karimganj.
During “Christmas & 31st December 2022 ” a special Enforcement drive against “Drunken Driving, Over Speeding, Overloading Goods / Passenger through out the Karimganj District to check Road Accident and reduce Road Accident along with Police Department.
Achievement of Enforcement Offence Case & C.F. Collection:
Daily average number of Offence Cases registered and C.F. Collection during December 2022.
Daily average Cases registered 128 Nos.
