Transport Department, Government of Assam is the gurdian of implementation of M.V.Act, 1988 as ammended and rules thereunder. Registration of vehicles and licencing of Drivers is the responsibility of the Department. The objective of the department is to regulate transport services and to maintain road safety measures also. This Department also contribute a handsome amount of revenue to the state exchequer which has been increasing every year. A number of schemes have been taken up in the interest of general public and also services are to be provided for rural connectivity.
